Born and raised in Ganvié, I share the history, culture, and traditions of my floating village with travelers from around the world.
My name is Théophile Zannnou, and I was born and raised in Ganvié Floating Village on Lake Nokoué in southern Benin.
Growing up in the Venice of Africa gave me a deep understanding of the traditions, culture, and daily life of the Toffinou people. The lake, the stilt houses, the fishing activities, and the stories passed down by our ancestors have shaped my identity and my passion for sharing this unique heritage.
Today, I am honored to welcome visitors from around the world and introduce them to the true spirit of Ganvié.
Living in one of Africa’s most remarkable villages.
As a child, I traveled by canoe, observed traditional fishing techniques, and learned the history of Ganvié from elders and respected community members.
I experienced firsthand how families live on Lake Nokoué and how the traditions of the Toffinou people continue to guide everyday life. These experiences inspired me to become a local guide dedicated to preserving and sharing the authentic culture of my village.
